A.T.A.T. 12-Hour Trail Endurance Run

Guidelines

Registration & Check-in

  • Pre-registration: All runners must register online.

  • Check-in Time: 4:00 AM – 4:30 AM at the event venue.

  • Race briefing: 4:30 - 4:45

  • Mandatory Gear Check: Ensure runners have the required safety gear (see Section 7).

  • Race Kit: Distributed upon check-in.

Race Format & Rules

General Rules:
  • Participants will run a 1-kilometer loop continuously for 12 hours.

  • Runners may rest or stop at any time, but the clock keeps running.

  • Only completed laps within the 12-hour limit count towards the final tally.

  • Cutoff time: Runners must start their final lap before 4:59 PM; any lap started after this time will not count.

  • If a runner leaves the course, they must re-enter from the same point.

  • Runners must follow the marked trail at all times.
     

Categories & Minimum Lap Requirements:
  1. Solo Runners – Individuals aiming to complete the most laps.

    • Minimum required laps: 40 laps (40 km)
       

  2. Pairs (Team of 2) – Two runners take turns running the course. Only one runner is allowed on the track at a time.

    • Minimum required laps: 20 laps per runner (40 laps total)
       

  3. Group of 3-4 – Three or  Four-person teams where only one runner is allowed on the course at a time.

    • Minimum required laps:

      • 10 laps per runner for a group of 4 (40 laps total)

      • 14 laps per runner for a group of 3 (42 laps total)
         

⚠️ Failure to meet the minimum lap requirement will result in a Did Not Finish (DNF) classification.

Relay Exchange Rules (For Pairs & Group of 4):
  • Exchanges must occur only at the designated exchange zone near the start/finish area.

  • Touch Exchange: The outgoing runner must physically tag the incoming runner before they start running.

  • Missed Exchange: If a team fails to tag properly, they must return to the exchange zone and complete the tag before continuing.

  • Teams cannot change runners mid-lap. The runner who starts a lap must finish it before switching.

  • A team can decide how often to switch runners (e.g., after every lap, every 5 laps, or based on time).
     

Lap Tracking & Timing:
  • Solo Runners: Laps will be counted per individual.

  • Pairs & Groups: Laps will be counted as a team total.

  • Timing is tracked using timing App or manual check-in at the start/finish line.
     

Penalties & Disqualification:
  • Failure to Meet Minimum Laps: Runners or teams not meeting the required laps will receive a DNF (Did Not Finish) status.

  • Off-Course Running: Any participant who strays from the marked trail must return to the last valid checkpoint before continuing.

  • Unauthorized Runner on Course: If more than one team member is running at the same time, the team will receive a 1-lap penalty.

  • Missed Exchange Zone: If a relay exchange occurs outside the designated zone, the team must return to the zone and redo the tag.

  • Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Any form of misconduct (e.g., pushing, blocking, disrespecting officials or runners) will result in a warning; repeated offenses lead to disqualification.

  • Littering on the Trail: 1-lap penalty for littering outside designated areas.

Categories & Awards

  • Solo Runners – Individuals aiming to complete the most laps.

  • Team Relay

    • Pair of 2 members who can switch runners at any time (each runner must complete a minimum number of laps).

    • Teams of 3-4 members who can switch runners at any time (each runner must complete a minimum number of laps).

​​Awards:

  • Overall Champion: Most laps completed

  • Top 3 Male & Female Finishers (for solo runners)

Hydration & Nutrition

  • Aid Station Location: At the start/finish area.

  • Provided: Water, electrolytes, fruits, energy bars, light snacks.

  • BYO Policy: Participants are encouraged to bring their own nutrition.

Safety & Medical Support

  • Medical Team: Available on-site for injuries, dehydration, or emergencies.

  • Trail Markings: (Reflective) markers and flags for visibility.

  • Emergency Protocol: Runners must report any injury or distress immediately.

Mandatory Gear

  • Headlamp (for pre-dawn running)

  • Trail running shoes

  • Personal nutrition (optional)

  • Weather-appropriate gear (rain/wind protection if needed)

Conduct & Sportsmanship

  • No littering on the trail. Use designated trash bins.

  • No pacing from non-registered runners.

  • No use of motorized assistance.

  • Show respect to fellow runners and organizers.

Weather & Cancellation Policy

  • The event will continue rain or shine unless extreme weather conditions arise.

  • Organizers reserve the right to pause or cancel the race in case of safety risks.

Post-Race & Awards Ceremony

  • Race ends at 5:00 PM sharp.

  • Cutoff for last lap: 4:59 PM.

  • Awards ceremony starts at 5:30 PM at [venue location].
