ABOUT THE RACE

Antique - home of the warriors. Antiqueños have a belief of being the descendants of Datu Sumakwel, the brave warrior and leader of the ten Bornean Datus who were the first settlers in the Island of Panay in the 13th century. The first edition of this race was held in January 2016 - the 2nd trail running event in the province after A.T.A.T: A Taste of Antique Trails. This race was first known as the Antique Half Marathon Challenge - a road race in December 2013 organized to raise funds for the victim of super typhoon Yolanda. In 2016 it was converted into a trail race and the concept of having obstacles/challenges were added and was labeled as the Antique Half-Marathon Challenge Plus or “HANGAWAY”. 

Hangaway is a Visayan term for “Warrior.” We are bringing the challenge from road to trail. Warriors will have to earn the title of a Hangaway if they finish the 12Km distance,  Sumalayhaw (24Km), Hangkilan (34Km) or Busalian (50Km).
